How TCSA Works

A clear, straightforward explanation of what TCSA is, how membership works, the application process, standards requirements and verification.

The Basics

What is TCSA?

TCSA (Trade and Customs Standards Association) is an independent professional membership body for businesses operating in the customs, freight, logistics and international trade sector. It was established in 1999 and operates independently of government, CBP and all regulatory authorities.

TCSA is not a licensing body. It does not issue licences, permissions or regulatory approvals. It is a professional membership organisation that sets standards, facilitates commercial introductions, manages procurement support and provides recognition to member businesses.

Membership is assessed and standards-led. Not every business that applies will be admitted. This is deliberate — it ensures that TCSA membership carries genuine weight with buyers and clients.

Application

The Application Process

The membership application process is straightforward. Here is exactly what happens from start to finish.

1

Submit Your Application

Complete the TCSA membership application form. Provide details about your business, services, geography and the type of membership you are seeking.

2

Initial Review

Your application is reviewed by the TCSA team against membership criteria. We may contact you to request additional information or clarification.

3

Membership Decision

If your application meets TCSA criteria, you will receive a formal offer of membership. Unsuccessful applicants are notified with a brief explanation.

4

Onboarding

On acceptance, your membership is activated, your listing is created, and you receive access to all member benefits including procurement notifications and commercial introductions.

Standards

Standards Expectations

What TCSA expects of its member organisations.

Business Legitimacy

Members must operate as legitimate, registered businesses. TCSA does not admit shell companies, inactive businesses or those with unresolved serious regulatory or legal issues.

Professional Conduct

Members are expected to conduct their business professionally and in a manner consistent with TCSA standards framework. Complaints can be made to TCSA about member conduct.

Accuracy of Information

Members must provide accurate information about their business, services and capabilities. Misrepresentation is grounds for termination of membership.

Annual Renewal

Membership is annual. Renewal is subject to continued compliance with TCSA membership criteria. Members are reviewed on renewal.

Verification

The Verification Process

Accredited Membership is a higher level of recognition requiring an independent review of your business.

1

Application for Accredited Status

Apply separately for Accredited Membership. This is an additional process beyond standard membership.

2

Documentation Review

TCSA requests supporting documentation including company registration, insurance certificates, compliance policies and references.

3

Standards Assessment

Your business is assessed against TCSA verification checklist covering legitimacy, insurance, compliance, professional standards and trading history.

4

Verification Decision

If successful, you are awarded TCSA Accredited status and receive a verification certificate and enhanced listing. Verification is valid for 12 months.

Participation

Member Participation

Once admitted to TCSA, members receive access to the full range of member benefits. Procurement notifications, commercial enquiries and tender opportunities are distributed to relevant members by email.

Members are encouraged to keep their profile information up to date and respond promptly to commercial introductions. Active participation increases the likelihood of receiving and converting relevant opportunities.

Membership is reviewed annually on renewal. Continued membership requires ongoing compliance with TCSA standards framework.
